Russian village covered in black snow from local boiler VIDEO
The village of Vysokogorny in Russia’s Khabarovsk region was covered in black snow due to emissions from a local boiler house, which was restored last autumn after a fire on the central heating main a year ago, reports TK MASH.
The boiler’s restart coincided with snowfall, leaving residents freezing in cold homes as soot quickly spread across the area. Authorities initially blamed the problem on incomplete adjustments, but the situation worsened in January: homes, streets, and apartments were covered in soot, and a nearby kindergarten was located very close to the boiler.
Locals say the boiler lacks a soot collector and protective bunker, causing ash to disperse throughout the neighbourhood. Citizens’ complaints have reportedly been ignored by authorities, prompting appeals to various agencies, including the regional prosecutor’s office.
