Russians dominate Georgia’s tourist scene with over 360,000 visits in Q2

During the second quarter of 2025, Georgia experienced an increase in international arrivals, with 1.8 million travellers visiting the country from April to June. This represents a 6.9% rise compared to the same period in 2024, according to the National Statistics Office, Sakstat, cited by Georgian media.

Among these, 1.6 million visits were made by individuals aged 15 and older, showing a 7% year-on-year growth. The number of tourist visits rose by 10%, reaching 1.3 million.

The majority of foreign visitors came for recreation and entertainment purposes. Tbilisi and the Adjara region were the most frequently visited destinations, and tourists spent an average of 5.3 nights in Georgia.

Citizens of Russia accounted for the largest share of visitors during this period, with 309,400 arrivals, comprising 22.4% of the total. They were followed by travellers from Türkiye, who made up 17.6%, and from Armenia, accounting for 10.8%. In terms of total visits, Russians made 361,800, Turkish citizens 308,300, and Armenian citizens 210,000.

Foreign visitors spent approximately 3.5 billion lari in Georgia over the three-month period, which equals about $1.26 billion. This marks a slight increase of 0.6% compared to April–June 2024. However, the average amount spent per visit declined by 6%, standing at 2,116.8 lari, or roughly $761.
