SCO chief calls on organization’s countries to develop intercultural dialogue
Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming has called on the countries of the organization to develop inter-civilizational and intercultural dialogue.
According to TASS, he spoke at an event at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing on the occasion of the celebration of Novruz.
This holiday, Zhang Ming noted, is in tune with the principles of the “Shanghai spirit”; it helps strengthen good neighbourliness between the countries of the region, promotes the harmonious coexistence of different ethnic groups and religions, and the development of intercultural and inter-civilizational dialogue.
Novruz, the SCO Secretary General recalled, is a spring holiday, which is celebrated in the countries of the SCO space and “carries in its essence the embodiment of the ideals of optimism, sincerity and friendliness, respect for nature and love of life.”
An exhibition of folk crafts opened at the SCO Secretariat and a tasting of national dishes took place.
