Second incident in week: Azur Air jet declares emergency
An Azur Air aircraft operating a flight from the Vietnamese resort city of Nha Trang to Irkutsk has transmitted a distress signal and is preparing for an emergency landing in Vietnam.
The information was published by the Telegram channel Mash, which said the Boeing 757 issued the distress signal while flying over Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi, at an altitude of approximately 7,000 metres.
The aircraft is currently circling to burn off fuel ahead of a possible emergency landing. Up to 238 passengers are believed to be on board.
The report adds that this is the second incident involving the same aircraft within a week. On January 23, the plane made an emergency landing in China after an engine failure.
Further details have not yet been officially confirmed.
