Security concerns force two-day school closure in Russian region
12 May 2026 09:21
Authorities in Russia’s Lipetsk region have ordered schools to switch to remote learning for two days due to what they described as a threat of provocations, according to an announcement by the regional government on VKontakte social platform.
The measure will be in effect on May 12 and 13 and is being implemented for safety reasons. During this period, in-person classes in city schools will be suspended. Kindergartens will continue to operate, but only through duty groups, while clubs and extracurricular sections will halt their activities.
Officials did not specify the nature of the alleged provocations and provided no further details on the potential threat.
