Senator Graham warns Russia could face Iran-style sanctions over Ukraine war
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham has issued a stark warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin, drawing a sharp parallel between Russia’s actions in Ukraine and past U.S. measures against Iran. The Republican lawmaker’s remarks came in response to former President Donald Trump’s recent ultimatum demanding an end to the war in Ukraine within 50 days.

As reported by Caliber.Az, Graham took to the social media platform X to support Trump’s position and underscore the potential consequences for Moscow should it ignore Washington’s demands. "If Putin and others are wondering what happens on day 51, I would suggest they call the Ayatollah," Graham wrote, referencing the severe U.S. sanctions imposed on Iran after its refusal to comply with American policies.
Graham warned that not only Russia, but also its international partners, could face serious repercussions. He singled out countries purchasing discounted Russian oil, suggesting they could also come under fire. "If I were a country buying cheap Russian oil, propping up Putin’s war machine, I would take President Trump at his word," he cautioned.
