Several Russian airports suspend operations amid temporary restrictions

23 February 2026 09:09

Temporary restrictions on the arrival and departure of flights have been introduced at airports in Samara, Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, Ulyanovsk, and Izhevsk, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) announced.

The restrictions in Ulyanovsk have been in effect for more than two hours, while those in Kazan and Nizhnekamsk have been in place for about an hour, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

Similar limitations have been enforced at air hubs in Penza, Saratov, Yaroslavl, and Kaluga since February 22.

On the evening of February 22, operations were also temporarily disrupted at Moscow’s major airports — Domodedovo Airport, Vnukovo Airport, Sheremetyevo Airport, and Zhukovsky Airport. Authorities reported that more than 20 drones were shot down near Moscow.
