Six killed, including four children, in house fire in Russia’s Omsk region
Six people, including four children, were killed in a fire that engulfed a private home in Russia’s Omsk region.
The victims included the 25-year-old homeowner, her one-year-old son, and her two daughters aged two and five. A 35-year-old female friend and her 14-year-old son also died in the blaze, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Authorities said the deceased friend was the mother of four other children, who will now remain in the care of their grandmother.
The regional branch of Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations said the house was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived at the scene. Officials noted that the rapid spread of the fire was caused by the building’s high fire load and a delayed emergency call.
The fire covered an area of 67 square metres. A total of 25 emergency personnel and 11 units of equipment were deployed to extinguish the blaze.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
