Slovak Foreign Minister says he cannot yet represent Ukraine in EU

Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar said that he cannot represent Ukraine in the European Union in the current conditions.

"Under the current conditions, I cannot imagine it. I wonder how Ursula von der Leyen, for example, will justify the membership proposal or the opening of discussions on Ukraine's membership in the EU and answer the question of how we can start negotiations with a country that is in a stage of military conflict.... I think Ukraine's membership in the EU is very, very far away," Blanar said, standard.sk reports.

On November 21, Blanar said that he supports Ukraine in its aspirations to join the EU, but Kyiv needs to fulfil the same conditions as the other candidates.
