South Korea: Seven feared trapped after boiler tower collapse at Ulsan power plant
As many as seven people are feared trapped after a 60-metre boiler tower collapsed at a thermal power plant in the southeastern South Korean city of Ulsan on November 6, local authorities said.
The accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at a facility operated by Korea East-West Power Co., a state-run utility company, Caliber.Az reports, citing South Korean media.
Fire officials said two workers were pulled from the rubble and were not in life-threatening condition, while rescuers continue to search for the remaining seven.
The tower, which was undergoing dismantling work at the time, crumpled for reasons that remain unclear.
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok has directed the interior ministry, as well as firefighting and police agencies, to deploy all available resources to assist in the rescue operation, officials said.
