Speaker: Ex-Georgian president was used by Ukraine to stir instability
Zelenskyy brought Saakashvili here to destabilise the country, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said.
Papuashvili stated that Saakashvili is now held in the penitentiary facility where, in his view, he belongs, and noted that no one is raising the issue of transferring him anymore because, according to him, neither Saakashvili nor Brussels is capable of repeating what he described as a circus, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.
“One thing interests me, perhaps it would be worth seeing, how much did his stay in the hospital cost? We are interested in what this amount is. After that, we should approach those bureaucrats in Brussels who must reimburse these expenses to the Georgian people, because it is important to understand what their hysteria and false narratives cost the Georgian people.
We repelled these attacks step by step and reached the point where everyone who brought Saakashvili here must be given the answer they deserve. Saakashvili was brought here by the Ukrainian authorities, and today you applaud President Zelenskyy, but he was the one who brought Saakashvili here in order to destabilise this country. This is your Zelenskyy. Who were the groups inventing lies about dementia? Zelenskyy, Sandu, other politicians and ambassadors who dared to tell this shameless lie to you and to Georgia,” Papuashvili said.
He stressed that Brussels had tried to drag Georgia into an escalation with Russia — one that would ultimately have led to war.
“It required flexibility to get out of this situation; we did get out of it, and now everyone must be held accountable for the false narrative they imposed on the Georgian people,” he underlined.
