State of emergency declared in Russia's Rostov-on-Don after UAV incident

08 May 2026 11:20

Authorities have declared a state of emergency in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Rostov-on-Don following damage caused by falling debris from an unmanned aerial vehicle.

The decision was announced by Mayor Alexander Skryabin during an extraordinary meeting, as local officials moved to respond to the aftermath of the incident.

“It was decided: to introduce a state of emergency within the boundaries of the Zheleznodorozhny district, where damage was caused after the fall of a UAV; to organise the work of an operational headquarters and commissions to assess the damage; to organise inspections to assess and document the damage and to accept applications for financial assistance from affected citizens. City communal services have been tasked with helping residents of affected buildings restore utility services and begin cleaning the surrounding areas of the incident site. An operational headquarters for receiving applications from residents of damaged buildings for compensation payments has been organised on the basis of the administration of the Zheleznodorozhny district,” Skryabin said.
