Kazakhstan braces for widespread fog, snow, strong winds
Kazhydromet has issued storm and fog warnings for nearly all regions of Kazakhstan on January 8, including Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, and 15 other regions.
Fog is expected in major cities such as Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Turkestan, Atyrau, and Pavlodar, as well as in many surrounding regions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
Icy conditions and ground frost are forecast for Atyrau, Aktobe, Zhambyl, and West Kazakhstan regions.
Snow and ground blizzards are predicted in North, East, and Abai regions, with winds strengthening to 15–20 m/s in many areas and gusts up to 25 m/s in Zhambyl Region.
Winds of 15–20 m/s are expected in parts of Almaty, Atyrau, Aktobe, Zhambyl, and West Kazakhstan regions.
Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling, monitor local weather updates, and prepare for poor visibility and hazardous road conditions.
