Strengthening defence capability key in 2023 budget of Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan's finance minister has said that the draft budget of the country for 2023 and the next 3 years reflect the requirements established by the strategy of socio-economic development of Azerbaijan until 2030.
Minister Samir Sharifov's remarks came at a joint meeting of Committees of the Parliament on Public Associations and Religious Organizations; Science and Education; Family, Women and Children Affairs, and Health and Culture on November 10, APA reports.
The minister noted that the budget for 2023 and the next 3 years took into account such strategic goals as increasing the country's defence capability, restoration and construction work in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur for ensuring a great return to the liberated territories:
"At the same time, the Russian-Ukrainian war, the depreciation of national currencies in a number of countries, and volatility in the world market were considered. The state budget for 2023 and the next 3 years is aimed at financing social protection measures for vulnerable groups of the population. The president of the country set before us as a priority the constant modernization of the army [and] increasing the defence capability," Sharifov said.
