22 July 2025 18:48

Azerbaijan has reaffirmed its readiness to strengthen economic cooperation with the Czech Republic, highlighting robust trade dynamics and significant potential for expanded partnership across key sectors.

The statement came during a high-level roundtable in Prague attended by Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and representatives of the Czech business community, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

The forum served as a platform to reaffirm the strategic importance of bilateral relations, which Minister Jabbarov described as grounded in mutual trust and aligned strategic priorities.

Currently, 25 Czech companies are active in Azerbaijan, operating in sectors including agriculture, industry, transport, construction, trade, and services. Bilateral trade has shown marked growth, with turnover reaching approximately $485 million in the first half of 2025.

Participants identified a broad spectrum of cooperation opportunities in areas such as energy, transport, manufacturing, and commerce. The Azerbaijani delegation presented the country's favorable investment environment, emphasizing the potential of the Alat Free Economic Zone, state-supported industrial parks, and new opportunities emerging in the recently liberated territories. Azerbaijan’s expanding role as a transport and logistics hub in the region was also spotlighted.

Minister Jabbarov extended an open invitation to Czech entrepreneurs, encouraging greater involvement in the Azerbaijani market and the exploration of joint ventures.

David Müller, Director General of European Union and Foreign Trade Section at the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, echoed the importance of the bilateral relationship, stressing its mutually advantageous nature and the Czech Republic’s keen interest in deepening economic engagement with Azerbaijan.

The roundtable also featured detailed presentations by leading Czech companies, including Chemoprojekt, Czechoslovak Group, Mavel, Omnipol, Škoda, TES VSETIN, and VSL Group Activities, showcasing their technological capabilities and exploring potential areas of collaboration.
