Azerbaijan, North Macedonia lay groundwork for strategic economic growth PHOTO

A delegation led by Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has paid a working visit to the North Macedonia, signaling a renewed commitment to deepening bilateral economic cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova met with a delegation led by Minister Jabbarov. Davkova emphasized the historically friendly relations between the two nations and expressed her commitment to strengthening strategic and economic partnerships, Caliber.Az reports per Azerbaijani Economy Ministry.

Minister Jabbarov noted that Azerbaijan’s cooperation with North Macedonia has gained momentum in recent years, with trade and investment links expanding steadily. He highlighted the significant potential for joint initiatives and underlined the importance of implementing concrete projects to enhance bilateral ties. The Azerbaijani side presented an overview of the country’s economic landscape, drawing attention to key priority areas and the long-term prospects for cooperation.

In a separate meeting with Afrim Gashi, President of the Assembly of North Macedonia, both sides emphasized the importance of mutual economic engagement, particularly in the fields of trade, investment, and energy. Discussions included ways to expand the legal and contractual framework that underpins bilateral relations.

Minister Jabbarov also met with First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Environment and Physical Planning Izet Medziti. Azerbaijan’s strategic investment climate and favorable geographic positioning—as a key transit hub in the region—were presented during the meeting. The sides explored opportunities for cooperation in traditional and renewable energy, infrastructure development, and environmental initiatives.

In talks with North Macedonian Minister of Economy and Labour Besar Durmishi, both parties expressed a shared interest in boosting collaboration in the fields of tourism, transport, energy, and private sector development. They discussed avenues for fostering closer ties between the business communities of both countries and implementing joint projects in strategic sectors.

Additionally, discussions with Minister for European Affairs Orhan Murtezani focused on Azerbaijan’s ongoing regional and global investment strategies. Opportunities for enhanced cooperation in energy, agriculture, trade, and tourism were explored, with both sides agreeing on the importance of diversifying partnership areas for mutual economic benefit.

Sharing details of the meeting on social platform X, Minister Jabbarov stated: “As part of our working visit to North Macedonia, we were received by President of the Republic of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska Davkova. We exchanged views on priority directions of relations between our countries and development of economic cooperation.”
