Student opens fire at school in Russia’s Krasnodar region
A school shooting involving an air gun was reported in Russia’s Krasnodar Region, where a Year 9 pupil arrived at school armed and opened fire, according to local Telegram channel Kub Mash.
The student reportedly used an air gun, injuring other children before attempting to flee the scene. He was later apprehended on a city street.
Two children were injured in the incident and are currently receiving medical treatment.
“The children are receiving all necessary medical care at the hospital; at present, doctors assess the condition of the victims as satisfactory,” said Veniamin Kondratyev.
He added that the victims would also be provided with psychological support.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the minor was able to bring a weapon into the school. The school’s administration will also be subject to review as part of the inquiry.
Prosecutors have taken note of the incident and will conduct their own investigation, after which appropriate measures are expected to be taken.
