A shooting at a technical college in Anapa, in Russia’s Krasnodar Territory, has left one person dead.

The information was confirmed by the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev.

According to the governor, the victim was a security guard at the educational institution. He was the first to confront the attacker and took the initial blow. Kondratyev emphasised that the guard reacted swiftly, immediately calling law enforcement authorities and preventing the gunman from advancing further into the college building.

“At the moment, there is one fatality — a security guard who was the first to take the blow. He reacted quickly and called law enforcement agencies. He did not allow the attacker to enter further into the technical school. I express my deep condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased,” the governor stated.

Preliminary reports indicate that two people sustained injuries of moderate severity. The exact number of those injured is still being clarified as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

A shooting took place near the Industrial Technical College located on Promyshlennaya Street in Anapa, in Russia’s Krasnodar Region.

According to students at the college, cited by Mash Telegram channel, the gunman was one of the institution’s own students, enrolled in the auto mechanic program. Witnesses said he was dressed in a black shirt and black athletic pants. He was armed with a 12-gauge TOZ-34 double-barrel shotgun and was carrying a load-bearing vest equipped with 15 rounds of ammunition.

Five people were injured in the attack. One victim is in critical condition, while three others sustained injuries of moderate severity. All those wounded were taken to the Anapa City Hospital for treatment. Preliminary reports indicate that the college’s security guard is among those who were seriously injured.

Law enforcement officers have detained the suspect. Authorities are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
