Student opens fire with traumatic pistol at Russian gymnasium in Ufa PHOTO / VIDEO
A ninth-grade student attacked Gymnasium No. 16 in Ufa, Russia, carrying a traumatic pistol, reportedly injuring at least one person.
Authorities have detained the student, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the attack, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Students reported that when commotion broke out in the corridor, a teacher quickly locked the classroom door and instructed them to barricade it. Coincidentally, a citywide school safety drill was scheduled for February 3, which initially led some students to believe the incident was part of the exercise.
The attacker reportedly shot at a teacher, though the educator’s condition has not been confirmed.
According to media sources, the student ran a Telegram channel where he shared photos of the traumatic pistol and screenshots of conversations, including messages seemingly connected to the school.
The first deputy prime minister of Bashkortostan later stated that there were no confirmed casualties.
