Syrian officials say five civilians killed, dozens wounded in Aleppo shelling
At least five civilians have been killed and 44 others wounded in shelling of residential areas in the Syrian city of Aleppo, local health officials said on January 8.
The Director of Media at the Aleppo Health Directorate, Muneer al-Mohammad, told Syria’s state news agency SANA that the casualties were caused by continued attacks by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on neighbourhoods near Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.
He said the death toll and number of injured had risen as shelling of residential districts continued throughout the day.
In a separate incident on January 8, al-Mohammad said an ambulance belonging to the Civil Defence was hit by sniper fire, wounding a female paramedic who was part of the medical crew.
According to the health directorate, SDF forces have been targeting residential neighbourhoods in Aleppo for the past three days.
