TASS: Bastrykin gets one-year extension as Russia’s chief investigator

Alexander Bastrykin’s term as head of the Investigative Committee of Russia has been extended by one year.
“The term has been extended until August 27, 2026,” a source told TASS, according to Caliber.Az.
The source added that the corresponding decree was signed “recently.”
Bastrykin has led the Investigative Committee since 2011. Before that, from 2007, he headed the Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor General’s Office. In 2024, President Vladimir Putin signed a law granting him the authority to extend the term of the committee’s head beyond the age of 70. Bastrykin will turn 72 on August 27.
