TASS: Blaze sweeps through Russia’s top space research complex PHOTO

A fire has broken out on the premises of the Central Research Institute of Machine Building (TsNIIMash), the main scientific centre of Russia's state space corporation Roscosmos, in the city of Korolyov, TASS reports, citing emergency services.

“A fire has occurred on the territory of TsNIIMash. Preliminary information indicates that it was caused by a technological incident,” the agency quoted emergency officials as saying.

No further details have been released, and there is currently no information about any casualties.

TsNIIMash is the Russian space industry's leading research institute and serves as Roscosmos' principal scientific centre. Its developments are used in the creation of ballistic missiles, navigation systems, satellite reconnaissance technologies and other systems with military applications.
