Tehran moves to confiscate assets of dozens over alleged espionage ties
Iranian judicial authorities have ordered the seizure of assets belonging to dozens of individuals, many of whom live abroad, over allegations of cooperation with Israel and actions against national security, according to a report by the state-linked news agency ANA published on Thursday, May 14.
Iran International reported that ANA, citing judicial authorities, said the measure was taken under a law that increases penalties for alleged espionage and cooperation with Israel. According to the report, the confiscated assets are intended to be used to rebuild sites damaged during the war.
The report added that cases involving the targeted individuals are currently under review. Those affected include people residing in Britain, Germany, Iraq, Türkiye and the United States, among other countries, as well as six individuals inside Iran.
Iran did not provide any evidence to support the allegations.
