Telegram ad activity surges sharply after government restrictions
Advertising activity on Telegram has sharply increased after Russia’s media regulator, Roskomnadzor, announced restrictions on the messaging platform.
The number of posts rose 15–20% compared with the start of the year and about 50% compared with the same period in 2025, according to CloudBuying.
The peak occurred on February 12, with nearly 52,000 ad posts published. Market participants attributed the surge to efforts to run campaigns before potential further restrictions.
By early March, daily integrations fell to 44–45 thousand, but demand remains strong, up 68% year on year. Retailers saw budgets grow 1.7 times, marketplaces 3.1 times, and the financial and insurance sectors doubled their spending.
Experts note that advertisers continue using Telegram despite the uncertainty, as replacing the platform with other channels without losing effectiveness is difficult and costly.
