Terrorist act aimed at killing prison staff thwarted in southern Russia

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), together with the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), has foiled a planned terrorist attack at a correctional facility in Russia’s Krasnodar region, Russian media reports, citing the FSB’s Public Relations Centre.

According to the agency, the plot was being organised by a convicted inmate born in 1980 who is a native of Central Asia.

Law enforcement officers established during operational and investigative activities that while serving his sentence at a penal colony in the Krasnodar region, he was preparing a terrorist act intended to kill employees of the facility.
