The Netherlands welcomes Armenia's decision to ratify Rome Statute
On November 24, with the support of Ambassador of the Netherlands Henk Cor van der Kwast and Ambassador of South Korea Hyun Chang Cho, a discussion was held at the International Criminal Court with the participation of Armenian Ambassador Victor Biyagov, as well as Ambassadors and other representatives of the States Parties to the Court.
The Armenian Ambassador presented the process of ratification of the Rome Statute by Armenia to the participants of the meeting, Caliber.Az reports with reference to Armenian media.
In his speech, the Armenian ambassador emphasized that the decision to ratify the Rome Statute is conditioned by the sincere belief in universal human values, multilateral policy and justice.
Ambassador Victor Biyagov assured his counterparts of Armenia's unequivocal commitment to the efforts in the fight against impunity.
The partners welcomed Armenia's decision to ratify the Rome Statute as an important step towards the universalization of international criminal justice. The participants of the meeting exchanged ideas on enhancing the effectiveness of the International Criminal Court, possible capacity-building programs for Armenia and the upcoming Assembly of States Parties.
