US president vows to eliminate crime, homelessness in Washington
US President Donald Trump has pledged to eradicate crime and restore order in the nation's capital, vowing that “there will be no more crime on the streets of Washington.”
The statement was made via a post on Truth Social, the platform often used by the president to communicate directly with his supporters, Caliber.Az reports.
“Washington, D.C. will be liberated today! Crime, savagery, filth, and scum will disappear. I will, make our capital great again! The days of ruthlessly killing, or hurting, innocent people, are over! I quickly fixed the border (zero illegals in last 3 months!), D.C. is next!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” the US president noted.
Trump in an earlier social media post on August 10 said that the homeless in DC "have to move out, immediately," but he did not elaborate on how that will be accomplished.
President Trump sharply criticised Washington, DC's local leadership last week for what he described as a surge in criminal activity. He asserted that the city’s escalating safety concerns demand immediate federal intervention and committed to taking personal responsibility for resolving the crisis.
In one of his most pointed remarks, Trump specifically addressed the issue of homelessness, promising swift action. He declared his intention to remove unhoused individuals from the streets of the capital, relocate them outside the city limits, and provide them with housing in designated areas.
