Thousands of Paris residents demand Macron's resignation
Thousands of protesters have gathered at the Place de la Bastille in Paris to express their disagreement with the policies of French President Emmanuel Macron and demand his resignation.
"Macron resign!", "Stop Macron's coup!", "Macron is a destroyer of democracy!" - the participants of the demonstration are chanting, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
In addition, the gathered supporters of left-wing parties are expressing their indignation that the president, after almost two months of consultations, appointed a representative of the center-right party "Republicans" Michel Barnier as the country's prime minister, rejecting the candidacy proposed by the left-wing "New Popular Front" (NPF).
They are also chanting slogans against Marine Le Pen and her party "National Rally", since they believe that with the appointment of a "right-wing" prime minister, she will have more influence on the current government.
Most of the participants in the action are activists of left-wing political parties, student and youth organizations. Particularly noticeable are the activists with the flags of the left-wing alliance "New Popular Front" and the "France Insubordinate" party, among whom are both deputies from this party and its founder Jean-Luc Mélenchon himself.
