Three foreign nationals targeted by arrest warrants in Russian general’s killing

25 December 2025 17:45

Moscow’s Basmanny District Court has ordered the arrest in absentia of two Uzbek nationals, Saidakbar Gulomov and Mirjalol Odilov, in connection with the murder of Russian Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov.

According to Uzbek media, both men have been placed on an international wanted list. In the same case, the court has also ordered the arrest in absentia of a Ukrainian citizen, Andrii Hedzyk.

Earlier, Russian law enforcement agencies detained another Uzbek citizen, Ahmadjon (Ahmad) Kurbanov, whom investigators identify as the alleged direct perpetrator of the terrorist attack that resulted in the death of General Kirillov.

Investigators believe that Kurbanov planted and detonated an explosive device attached to an electric scooter near the entrance of the general’s apartment building. The explosion, which took place on December 17, 2024, killed Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his aide, Major Ilya Polikarpov.

According to the investigation, Ahmadjon Kurbanov was promised a monetary reward and assistance in leaving for European Union countries in exchange for carrying out the attack. After the explosion, he attempted to evade capture and remained in the Moscow region for some time before being detained by officers of the Federal Security Service and the criminal investigation department.

The case materials have been submitted to the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office for approval of the charges. Investigators state that the alleged perpetrator faces a potential life sentence.

The investigation is continuing, with law enforcement agencies working to identify all individuals involved and hold them accountable.
