Tragic bus overturn in Istanbul claims two lives PHOTO

10 November 2024 10:45

A tragic accident occurred in Istanbul when a passenger bus overturned.

Two people lost their lives in the crash, and 15 others sustained injuries of varying severity, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.

Emergency responders, including police, rescuers, and medical teams, swiftly arrived at the scene, and the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

This incident adds to a series of recent road tragedies in Türkiye. Just last month, on October 18, six people were killed, and dozens more injured when a bus overturned in Aksaray province, located in central Türkiye.

Aksaray Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoglu confirmed that the bus was travelling from Balikesir to Cappadocia when it overturned approximately 25 kilometres from Aksaray on the Aksaray-Ankara highway. The accident resulted in casualties, leaving 25 people with injuries. An investigation was launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Türkiye has experienced a number of bus accidents in recent months. On October 17, a collision between a passenger bus and a truck led to the death of a bus attendant and the injury of 17 people.

Additionally, in May, a four-vehicle pileup in the southern province of Mersin left 10 dead and 39 injured.

In December 2023, another devastating crash occurred in northwestern Sakarya province, resulting in 10 fatalities and 61 injuries after a seven-vehicle collision.
