Training bomb discovered on Caspian sea shore in western Kazakhstan Photo
Authorities in western Kazakhstan are investigating the discovery of a suspicious military object found along the shore of the Caspian Sea in the Mangistau region.
According to regional officials, a local hunter discovered the object on December 15 at approximately 10:00 a.m. local time, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
The item was located about 200 metres from the coastline in the Tupkaragan district, roughly 39 kilometres from the regional centre of Aktau. The discovery was reported to the emergency duty station via the 102 police hotline.

Police officers from the Tupkaragan district, along with a specialised bomb disposal unit from military unit No. 25744, were promptly dispatched to the scene. Preliminary assessments indicate that the object is a P-50-75 training aircraft bomb, heavily corroded due to prolonged exposure to the elements.
The area was secured, and the find was documented in accordance with established safety and investigative procedures.
An official investigation is underway to determine how the object ended up at the site and to clarify its origin. While authorities have identified the item as a training munition, the individual who found it believes it could potentially be a German aircraft bomb dating back to World War II.
