Trump calls on Israeli president to pardon Netanyahu
US President Donald Trump has called for the pardon of Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces corruption charges, by Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
Trump’s remarks were greeted with applause by Israel’s prime minister and his allies in the Knesset, Caliber.Az reports citing Al Jazeera.
Netanyahu is currently on trial in three separate cases involving corruption, fraud, and abuse of power.
Israel’s prime minister has been on trial since 2020 in three separate cases involving allegations of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. The charges stem from accusations that he accepted gifts from wealthy businessmen and sought favourable media coverage in exchange for political favours.
Netanyahu has denied all allegations, calling the cases a politically motivated witch hunt.
