Trump concludes Scotland visit with opening of new Golf course
US President Donald Trump has wrapped up a five-day visit to Scotland with the official opening of a new golf course bearing his name, part of a trip focused on promoting his family's luxury properties and advancing trade talks with the European Union.
The newly unveiled course is located in the coastal village of Balmedie, in the north-east of Scotland, and marks the latest addition to the Trump Organisation’s portfolio of golf resorts in the country, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
"Let's go. 1-2-3," said Trump, moments before cutting the ceremonial red ribbon at the entrance of the course.
Joined by his sons Eric and Donald Jr., the president was expected to take part in the inaugural round of golf at the course following the ceremony.
"This has been an unbelievable development," Trump told those gathered at the event. He went on to praise his son Eric for his role in delivering the project, saying it was "truly a labour of love for him."
The trip also served as an opportunity for Trump to briefly step away from domestic political pressures in Washington, where controversy surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein case continues to dominate headlines.
While much of the visit was centred around golf and the Trump family brand, it also coincided with discussions over a proposed framework for a new trade agreement between the United States and the European Union.
