Trump confirms separate meeting with Xi Jinping in two weeks
US President Donald Trump confirmed that he will hold a separate meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, noting that the meeting will take place in South Korea in two weeks.
“We’re doing very well with China. I’ll meet with Xi Jinping in two weeks,” the American president told Fox Business, adding that he gets along well with his Chinese counterpart, describing Xi as a very strong leader and an extraordinary person whose life could make a great movie.
The meeting is scheduled to occur during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, from October 31 to November 1, 2025.
Despite recent tensions over China's export restrictions on rare earth elements, which led to US tariff threats, both leaders have expressed a willingness to engage diplomatically.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that preparations are underway, with both sides maintaining open communication channels.
The summit aims to address trade issues and explore avenues for de-escalation in US-China relations.
