Turkic states chief highlights Zangazur Corridor’s regional importance at Antalya Forum

Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), has underlined the regional importance of Zangazur Corridor as he addressed the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

The Secretary General expressed optimism regarding the ongoing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, highlighting the significance of reaching an agreement on all key issues, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Omuraliev also underscored the importance of the peace process for both Azerbaijan and the wider Turkic world.

"The work on the peace agreement is progressing, and the greatest achievement so far is the complete liberation of Azerbaijani lands from occupation," Omuraliev stated.

He emphasized that this development is crucial not only for Azerbaijan but for the entire Turkic community. According to the Secretary General, harmonizing the articles of the peace agreement is essential to ensure lasting peace in the region.

Omuraliev also addressed the highly anticipated Zangazur Corridor project, noting its regional importance. He explained that the project holds great promise not only for Azerbaijan but also for Armenia, Iran, and other neighboring countries. "The Zangazur Corridor is not just significant for Azerbaijan; it is a key project for the entire region, including Armenia and Iran," he said. "It is also a crucial component of the Middle Corridor, which was once seen as an alternative route but is now regarded as part of the broader connectivity strategy."

The Zangazur Corridor, a transport and logistics route that aims to connect Azerbaijan's western regions to its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and beyond, is seen as a critical development for regional cooperation, trade, and stability. The project's success is expected to contribute to enhanced economic ties between the countries of the region and improve connectivity between Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Europe.
