Turkic states forum on combating disinformation opens in Ankara

The Turkic States Forum on Combating Disinformation has begun in Ankara, bringing together officials, media representatives and experts from across the Turkic world.

The two-day event is organised by the Communication Directorate of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Türkiye and focuses on strengthening information security, developing coordinated approaches to counter disinformation and expanding cooperation in the media sphere, Caliber.Az reports via local media. 

Representatives from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Hungary, Turkmenistan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are taking part in the forum. The main objective is to establish an effective communication environment among Turkic states and to reinforce institutional cooperation in the fight against disinformation.

Azerbaijan is represented by Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Javid Musayev, Head of the Communication Policy Sector of the Department for Work with Non-Governmental Organisations and Communication of the Presidential Administration; Kamran Hasanov, Head of the Media Relations Sector of the same department; Parvana Ibrahimova, Senior Adviser of the Media Relations Sector; Natig Mammadli, Deputy Executive Director of the Media Development Agency; Javid Valiyev, Member of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations; and Faiq Mahmudov, Head of the International Relations and Analytics Department of the APA News Agency.

Within the framework of the forum, participants are discussing the impact of disinformation on national security, public opinion and regional stability, as well as joint mechanisms for coordinated action in the information environment.

In line with the Organisation of Turkic States’ Action Plan for Information for 2025, the forum is expected to contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience aimed at enhancing media literacy and to the establishment of an effective dialogue platform on information security, countering disinformation, the responsible use of digital technologies, international broadcasting and next-generation journalism.
