06 July 2023 16:01

The Turkish Armed Forces have neutralised 794 terrorists since the beginning of 2023, as part of 320 anti-terrorist operations.

The Turkish Ministry of National Defence noted that 19 of the operations carried out in northern Iraq and Syria were large-scale. At the same time, 21 of them were carried out during the last week, Anadolu reports.

In general, since July 24, 2015, when Türkiye began a new stage in the fight against terrorism, 38,137 terrorists have been eliminated in the region.

The Turkish Defense Ministry stressed that Ankara has always shown respect for the territorial integrity and unity of all neighbouring states, and the operations of the Turkish Armed Forces are carried out in accordance with the recognized right to self-defence and purely to eliminate the threat of terrorism.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense further drew attention to the situation in Syria in the light of the results of the four-party talks held on April 25, 2023, in Moscow with the participation of representatives of Türkiye, Iran, the Russian Federation and the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

The ministry noted that currently, work continues on the creation of a Quadripartite Joint Center in northern Syria, which will include military personnel from four sides. This centre is designed to coordinate the actions of the military on the ground, explained in Ankara.

In addition, the Turkish Ministry of Defense continues, in coordination with the country's Foreign Ministry, steps to extend the "grain agreement".
