To recall, the Turkish Armed Forces are continuing to carry out precision operations targeting the PKK/YPG militant presence in Syria, with the primary aim of reinforcing regional stability and enhancing national security.
The PKK, which is designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union, has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 individuals during its four-decade-long violent campaign against Türkiye, with civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, among its victims.
The YPG, the Syrian branch of the PKK, has long sought to establish a terrorist corridor along Türkiye’s southern border. In recent years, Türkiye has stationed military forces in the region and formed partnerships with local allies, such as the Syrian National Army, to block the creation of this corridor and protect local communities from terrorist activities.
