Turkish Baykar ranks ASELFLIR-500 camera world's number one Compared to Canadian Wescam
The Turkish Baykar defence company has tested and compared the ASELFLIR-500 electro-optical system developed by ASELSAN and its Canadian analogue developed by Wescam - MX-15D.
Canada decided to impose an embargo on the sale of MX-15D to Türkiye, which was widely used by Turkish unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and costs $1-1.2 million, after the 44-day second Karabakh war, Caliber.Az reports citing the message of SavunmaSanayiST.com posted on X.
ASELSAN, which completed the development of CATS after the embargo, began developing ASLELFLIR-500 with the goal of “being the best” in this system.
During testing the specialists revealed that ASELFLIR-500 is better than MX-15D.
“We circumvented the embargo on cameras for our UAVs by quickly producing our national CATS camera and exporting it to 11 countries. From now on, we will do our best in this sphere. Our new camera, along with its analogues, has been recently tested during the flight,” ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol said after the successful tests.
When the test was completed, Baykar company’s representatives said that this is now the best camera in the world.
“This is an artificial intelligence system that can detect a tank at a distance of 80 kilometres, mark it at a distance of 20 kilometres and can see in fog,” Akyol noted.
