Turkish companies to handle Syria's electricity supply in 2025
In a significant development for regional energy cooperation, Turkish companies will take the lead in ensuring Syria's electricity supply throughout 2025.
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, confirmed that the state-owned electricity company EÜAŞ (Electricity Generation Company) will play a central role in addressing Syria's energy needs in the coming year, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
"Company EÜAŞ, the largest state-run electricity production company, will work on fulfilling Syria's electricity demands in 2025. EÜAŞ has substantial experience in this field, and we are committed to contributing to stability in the region," Bayraktar said.
Alongside EÜAŞ, TEİAŞ (Turkish Electricity Transmission Company) will also be involved in the effort. Bayraktar highlighted the importance of strengthening TEİAŞ's infrastructure, which is expected to play a key role in meeting the growing energy demands.
"We are working on a new architecture for electricity transmission, one that significantly increases capacity. The year 2025 will be pivotal for TEİAŞ's development. A major task for the company will be to ensure our neighbor Syria’s electricity needs are met, and in this respect, TEİAŞ will also fulfill its international duty," Bayraktar explained.
The Turkish government’s intervention comes at a critical time for Syria, which has been struggling with energy shortages due to ongoing conflict and infrastructure damage. By supporting the electricity grid, Türkiye aims to foster stability in the region, ensuring that Syria’s energy supply is reliable during a period of reconstruction.
