Turkish defence industry to boost Azerbaijani army's capabilities PHOTO

26 September 2023 17:04

Türkiye's defence industry will provide the Azerbaijani Army with the ability to meet the maintenance, repair, renewal and modernisation needs of ground equipment without depending on foreign sources.

The modernised Nakhchivan Military Complex, which was inaugurated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on September 25, was another example of cooperation in the defence industry of the two countries, according to Anadolu.

The Nakhchivan Military Complex project, launched within the framework of an agreement signed between the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry and the Joint Stock Company for Management of Military Factories and Shipyards (ASFAT), was successfully completed in seven months.

Thanks to the project, which is one of the most successful examples of ASFAT's cooperation with friendly and brotherly countries, the Nakhchivan Military Complex had the opportunity to adopt Türkiye's 50 years of experience in this direction.

As part of the project, ASFAT conducted the necessary inspections at the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic's maintenance facility and determined the requirements.

The project was primarily aimed at making the infrastructure of the facility fit for purpose. In this context, issues such as the electrical infrastructure, the construction of a special floor, the heating system, the installation of a crane system as well as the installation of various workshops were planned and completed within a short time frame.

At the same time, vehicles, equipment, benches and power testing facilities were supplied to the Nakhchivan military complex. Most of the equipment was produced at military plants using local resources.

The project, implemented in a short period of time, put the modernisation of other military plants and repair and maintenance enterprises in Azerbaijan on the agenda. Preliminary studies on other facilities are being conducted by ASFAT in coordination with the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan.
