Turkish Defence Ministry: 49 terrorists neutralised in a week VIDEO
The Turkish Armed Forces have neutralised 49 terrorists in northern Iraq and Syria over the past week, bringing the total number of neutralised militants since January 1, 2024, to 3,070, according to the Ministry of National Defence.
Zeki Aktürk, head of the Ministry’s press service, provided the update on January 2, Caliber.Az reports.
“Turkish forces successfully neutralised 49 terrorists on the northern fronts of Iraq and Syria over the past week. Since January 1, 2024, a total of 3,070 terrorists have been neutralised—1,491 in northern Iraq and 1,579 in northern Syria,” Aktürk said.
Aktürk also highlighted the surrender of 107 terrorists throughout the year, underscoring the effectiveness of ongoing counterterrorism operations.
In addition, Turkish forces conducted search-and-destroy operations in the Pençe-Kilit operation zone in northern Iraq. These efforts led to the seizure of a large cache of weapons and ammunition from terrorist hideouts located in caves.
