Turkish FM calls for swift end to Ukraine war
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has reiterated Ankara's call for an early end to the war in Ukraine, saying Türkiye wants the conflict to be resolved through comprehensive peace negotiations.
Speaking at a joint press conference following talks with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev, Fidan said the two sides discussed the war in Ukraine, its regional consequences and the risk of further escalation, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
"We discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine, its consequences, and the risk of its dangerous spread. I shared my impressions from my recent visit to Russia and the assessments made following our colleagues' contacts."
Fidan said Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan share the same objective of ending the conflict and moving toward a negotiated settlement.
"Today we exchanged views on these issues. Our goal and our desire are to end the war as soon as possible and begin comprehensive peace talks. And on this, we are in complete agreement [with Kyrgyzstan]," he said.
