Turkish FM points out historic opportunity for peace between Baku, Yerevan
A historic opportunity for a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia has emerged, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan as he met with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock in Ankara.
Fidan highlighted the potential for a breakthrough in relations between the two nations, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
Fidan emphasized the importance of impartial support from third parties to facilitate the peace process, underscoring the need for fair and balanced engagement.
In addition to the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict, the ministers discussed various global issues, including the situations in Syria and Ukraine. Fidan called for collective international efforts to secure a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian enclave.
On the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, Fidan reiterated Türkiye's commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing about an early end to the conflict.
The foreign ministers also addressed other matters of mutual interest during their discussions.
