FM: Türkiye attaches great importance to expanding trade partnership with Turkic states
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said that Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan will prepare a roadmap to strengthen cooperation.
Fidan made these remarks during the second trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers, ministers of economy, trade ministers, transport ministers of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan in Ankara, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He emphasised that the meeting will focus on opportunities for political and economic collaboration in a trilateral format.
“We will define our roadmap for specific steps to be taken in the upcoming period. As the first item on the agenda, we will discuss issues directly impacting foreign policy and regional cooperation. The second topic of discussion will be trade, economics, and the expansion of economic cooperation. Türkiye's trade volume has been growing year by year, and within this framework, our trade ties with the Turkic world are also expanding. We attach great importance to broadening our trade partnership with Turkic states and increasing mutual investments,” he added.
Moreover, Fidan noted that recent global challenges clearly demonstrated that the Middle Corridor is the most reliable and economically advantageous route.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) is an integral component of the Belt and Road Initiative, established to create a direct transportation link from Asia to Europe. The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route starts from Southeast Asia and China, runs through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to European countries. It aims to facilitate trade and economic cooperation by connecting major economic regions through a network of railways, highways, and maritime routes.
