Azerbaijan’s FM, US state secretary discuss Armenia-Azerbaijan normalisation
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a telephone conversation with United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has confirmed.
The discussion focused on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan–U.S. cooperation, regional developments, and the ongoing process of normalising relations between Baku and Yerevan.
Both sides welcomed the bilateral contacts and consultations conducted in preparation for the Strategic Partnership Charter following the Washington Peace Summit on August 8.
They expressed hope that the draft charter could be finalised and signed in the near term, emphasising that its priorities would provide an additional boost to bilateral relations.
During the call, Bayramov conveyed Azerbaijan’s position on the prospects for the normalisation and peace process with Armenia.
The ministers commended steps taken within the framework of the normalisation process and confidence-building measures, and highlighted the importance of initiatives under the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP).
The officials also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
