Turkish forces discover weapons cache in Northern Iraq VIDEO
Turkish Armed Forces have uncovered and destroyed a cave used by militants during an ongoing search and sweep operation in the Pençe-Kilit region of northern Iraq, Turkish f National Defence Ministry announced.
According to the ministry's statement posted on social media platform X, the cave was discovered as part of a broader counter-terrorism effort and has since been rendered unusable. The site contained a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and living supplies, all of which have been neutralised, Caliber.Az reports.

Among the seized items were four M-16 infantry rifles, a Konkurs anti-tank weapon, two A/T-4 anti-tank weapons, and two RPG-7 rocket launchers. Troops also confiscated a 60 mm mortar, one 14.5 mm Doçka machine gun, two 12.7 mm Doçka machine guns along with an additional barrel, and several sniper rifles — including three Zagros rifles, three Dragunov rifles, one Blazer R8, and five unspecified sniper models.
Other arms included an M1 infantry rifle, five PKMS machine guns accompanied by seven spare barrels, 19 AK-47 assault rifles, one RBG grenade launcher, four pistols, and two air pistols. The stockpile also included significant quantities of ammunition: 1,280 rounds of 14.5 mm, 3,000 rounds of 12.7 mm, 20,000 rounds of 7.62 mm, 16,800 rounds of 5.56 mm, and 21,600 rounds of 5.45 mm.
In addition to military equipment, soldiers discovered logistical items such as two audio recording devices, a generator, an inverter, and two uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units.
The ministry praised the operation as a continued example of the Turkish Armed Forces’ “relentless and tireless struggle” against terrorism in the region.
