Turkish, Ukrainian top diplomats mull regional crises
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has held a phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha, focusing on developments in Ukraine, Syria, and the Black Sea region, as well as bilateral cooperation.
The FMs exchanged views on Ukraine’s battlefield situation and ongoing regional security challenges, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
During the conversation, the sides addressed current developments in Ukraine and Syria, underlining the importance of ongoing collaboration to tackle regional challenges.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha later stated, “During today’s call with my colleague and friend Hakan Fidan, we discussed our bilateral agenda, the situation on the battlefield, security in the Black Sea, the situation in Syria, and the Middle East. We agreed on coordinated efforts to further strengthen our strategic partnership.”
Previously, Minister Fidan has expressed Türkiye’s support for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine, emphasizing that the ongoing conflict in Europe should be brought to a swift end.
Fidan also highlighted the need to resolve the migration, economic, and other crises that have been exacerbated by the war.
