13 July 2023 16:11
Türkiye's central bank has approved the issue of new banknotes with denominations of 500, 1,000, and 2,000 liras, as well as new coins with denominations of 2.5, 5, and 10 Turkish liras.
According to Karar.com, the possibility of removing small coins from circulation is being considered. The smallest coin will remain 1 lira. The new banknotes are expected to strengthen the national currency and improve the economy.
It is known that the Central Bank and the Mint worked on the new banknotes. Although it is reported that the colour of the new banknotes will be blue and turquoise, no official announcements have been made about the design and functions.
