Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Georgia set for talks in Baku to boost regional ties Fuat Oktay’s visit agenda

24 February 2026 10:24

The 10th trilateral joint meeting of the parliamentary foreign affairs commissions of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Georgia will take place in Baku to discuss and strengthen cooperation in economy, transportation, energy, and tourism.

Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Foreign Affairs Commission and AK Party Ankara lawmaker Fuat Oktay has arrived in Baku to participate in the meeting, set for February 24, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

Addressing reporters, Oktay highlighted that notable regional developments and changes have occurred since the last meeting held in Türkiye.

Oktay noted that Azerbaijan and Armenia have initialled a peace agreement and agreed on the route known as the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), also referred to as the Zangezur Corridor.

He emphasised that a normalisation process between the two countries has begun and pointed out that trade between Azerbaijan and Armenia has already started.

“The start of normalisation between Azerbaijan and Armenia also brings about the beginning of the normalisation process between Türkiye and Armenia,” Oktay said.

He further added that the normalisation process between Azerbaijan and Armenia would positively affect Georgia in terms of connectivity.

“Georgia is one of the main routes that provides connectivity between Türkiye, Azerbaijan and the Turkic world, both by railway and by road,” he stressed.

The trilateral meeting will cover existing and potential areas of cooperation among the three nations, focusing on the economy, transportation, energy and tourism, and will explore ways to strengthen these areas further.

During his visit, Oktay is expected to hold meetings with Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Speaker of the Milli Majlis (parliament) Sahiba Gafarova and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

He is accompanied by members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Foreign Affairs Commission: AK Party Balikesir lawmaker Mustafa Canbey, CHP Hatay lawmaker Mehmet Guzelmansur, MHP Kayseri lawmaker Ismail Ozdemir and IYI Party Mugla lawmaker Metin Ergun.
